Meet Our Newest Board Member: Mark Lashier, From Phillips 66

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Lashier, Chairman and CEO of Phillips 66, to our Board of Directors, expanding the size of the group and reinforcing the Foundation's commitment to driving continued growth and impact in the greater Houston area through literacy.

Mark Lashier has an impressive track record, having served as President and CEO of Phillips 66 since 2022 and recently being appointed as Chairman of the company. With 30 years of experience in executive leadership roles within the energy and petrochemical industries, Lashier's expertise is an asset to the Foundation. Prior to his tenure at Phillips 66, he held various positions at Chevron Phillips Chemical, including President and CEO. 

In addition to his corporate roles, Lashier is actively involved in several industry groups and nonprofits. His board memberships include the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers, the Greater Houston Partnership, Iowa State University’s College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Council, Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas, and the American Cancer Society’s CEOs Against Cancer. He also serves on the executive committee of the American Petroleum Institute and is a member of the Business Roundtable, the Business Council, and the National Petroleum Council.

Phillips 66 has been a cornerstone supporter of the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, being the largest donor for more than nine years. The company's investment has been instrumental in launching many of the Foundation’s literacy programs, particularly those serving Houston’s youngest and most vulnerable children and families in underserved communities. Moreover, Phillips 66 has proudly served as the title sponsor for the Foundation's A Celebration of Reading event for the past nine consecutive years. 

With Mark Lashier's appointment, the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation looks forward to leveraging his extensive experience and commitment to literacy and education equity to further our mission of transforming lives and our community through literacy.
