However, merely encouraging individuals to read is not enough; it is crucial to model and demonstrate reading skills to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for reading. Here’s why direct modeling and demonstration of reading skills are essential.

When reading skills are modeled and demonstrated, learners are actively engaged in the process. Teachers and caregivers who read aloud, think aloud, and share their thought processes provide a clear example of how to approach texts. This interactive experience allows learners to observe the strategies used by proficient readers, such as predicting, questioning, and summarizing, making the learning process dynamic and participatory.
